SUSTAINABILITY.PRESERVATION.ARCHITECTURE

Black. Woman. Architect. Sustainable. Preservationist.

These are the lenses through which I navigate the world. Simple words that describe me that I’m still learning how to juggle.

I see myself as a connector between allied worlds. For example:

  • I’m the black friend my white friends feel comfortable talking with about race.

  • The preservationist who can help architects navigate historic approvals.

  • The architect who can help preservationists think of sustainability.

I’m on numerous boards and try to blend my various passions since it’s all connected.

WORK AND PLAY

I’m a Senior Associate at Quinn Evans but in my free time I dabble in a few things. From online courses to podcasts to volunteer boardwork here’s where I like to spend my time:

Smartsheet for Architects

When I ran a small architecture firm I LOVED using Smartsheet to manage the business! So much so that I created an online course to help other architects use it too.

Board work:

BAF encourages people to explore Baltimore’s architectural history and future through tours, lectures, educational programs for adults and kids, exhibitions, research, and publications.

Podcast: Tangible Remnants

A space where I explore the interconnectedness of Architecture, Sustainability, Historic Preservation, Race & Gender.

Zero Net Carbon Collaboration for Existing and Historic Building

They aim to rapidly accelerate achievement of ZNC for the existing and historic built environment, accounting for both embodied and operational emissions. They monitor technological development and coordinate best practices for the ZNC rehabilitation of existing buildings to facilitate the responsible reuse of built resources.
